John Cook

John was admitted as a legal practitioner in 2008 and since that time he has practiced almost exclusively in criminal law. Prior to his call to the bar John developed his practice at a well-respected and distinguished boutique criminal law firm in Brisbane. In 2016 he achieved specialist accreditation in criminal law.

John appears regularly at trials, sentences, and applications in the Supreme, District, CCQ, and Magistrates Courts, and undertakes appellate work in the Court of Appeal and at District Court 222 appeals. John has also appeared for dozens of clients who have been compelled to attend at the CCC and ACIC coercive hearings.

Appearing on all criminal law matters, big and small, John has a significant wealth of experience dealing with complicated protracted drug trafficking operations. Outside crime John also practices in Child Protection matters and Domestic Violence applications. John is a member of the LAQ complex criminal case barrister panel.
